A rather large, buffy-brown duck with striking white cheek patches extending down the neck. The bill is bluish bill with red near base. The body is heavily speckled below. Females are slightly paler than males. Look for them at the Pekelmeer, Lake Goto and in shallow pools created by heavy rains.
